Steps to a Great Serve Mt. Juliet for your Group

Pray

Ask God to lead you as you design your project. How might He use
your group to share Jesus with our city?

Imagine

Envision what it might look like for you and your group to serve the city of Mt. Juliet and/or our neighboring communities?

Ask Questions

Think through questions like:

  • How is our group uniquely gifted and connected to serve our city?
  • Who do we know (business, non-profit organization, family, etc.) that we can bless?
  • Who in our community has a need we can help meet?

Choose

Decide how your group will serve and register your project here.

Project Ideas and Focus

Projects are designed to serve individuals, families, schools, and local organizations throughout our neighborhoods and communities. Our Serve Mt. Juliet focus will be on reaching out to and serving our city and neighboring communities. We are asking that you serve the outside community on this day. Please schedule projects focused on church members on another day.

Project ideas include the following:

  • Clean up a widow’s or mother’s yard.
  • Deliver snacks, baked goods or lunch to a fire station or police station.
  • Offer free car washes.
  • Serve your neighborhood school.
  • Deliver fresh flowers or snacks to assisted living home residents.
  • Perform landscaping services like grass-cutting and shrub-trimming.
  • Serve a family with a member with special needs.
  • Community trash pick-up.
  • Spread pine straw or mulch at a local park.
  • Wash windows for local businesses using professional window washing supplies
  • available at local building supply stores.
  • Put together dinner kits for families in need.
  • Corral shopping carts at a local supermarket or shopping center.
  • Spread pine straw or mulch at a local park.
  • Pick up trash in parking lots at a local supermarket or shopping center.
  • Laundromat Assistance: take rolls of quarters, coffee, juice, and donuts and have fun
  • serving customers.
  • Toilet and bathroom cleaning at local businesses.
  • And much more!

There are so many ideas for serving! Get creative and remember to love on people as you
meet needs, have lots of fun, and celebrate what God does!

Who can register?

Serve Mt. Juliet is open to our entire church and school family, as well as anyone from our community who may wish to participate.

  • Life Groups, Ministry Teams, and MJCA Student Groups are encouraged to prayerfully design, plan, and serve together.
  • Individuals and families not in a LifeGroup, Ministry Team, or Student Group may register as well.
  • Registration is split into three categories:
    • Life Groups
    • MJCA Groups
    • Volunteers

  • If you register as a “Volunteer,” we will place you in a Service Project where the need is greatest, and that seems to be the best fit for you.

What is Serve Mt. Juliet?

Serve Mt. Juliet is an exciting, fun-filled day of serving our city in Jesus’ name. We will go into our community to meet real needs, build relationships, and reflect the love of Christ in tangible ways through practical, helpful projects and acts of kindness designed and prayed over by First Mt. Juliet LifeGroups, Ministry Teams, and MJCA Student Groups.

Who can participate?

Serve Mt. Juliet is open to all ages and stages of life. Individuals, families, Life Groups, ministry teams, Mt. Juliet Christian Academy students and families, and members of our community are all encouraged to participate.

Do I need to be a church member to serve?

No. While Serve MJ Day is hosted by First Baptist Church Mt. Juliet, friends, neighbors, and guests are welcome to join us.

How long do the projects last?

Most projects are designed to last between two and four hours, including travel time.

Where will we meet?

Volunteers will gather at First Baptist Church Mt. Juliet for a brief kickoff with prayer and instructions before being sent out to their project locations.

Can I serve with my LifeGroup or family?

Yes. Life Groups, families, ministry teams, and school groups are encouraged to serve together. Groups can register as a team during the registration process.

What if I register as a volunteer?

Individuals or families who register as “Volunteers” will be placed on a team and assigned to a project where help is needed.

Are there projects suitable for children or students?

Yes. Many projects are family-friendly, and youth and students are encouraged to participate alongside adults. Some projects may have age recommendations for safety.

Do I need any special skills to serve?

No special skills are required for most projects. Each opportunity is designed to be accessible and clearly organized. Some projects may involve light physical activity.

What should I bring?

Bring what you might need, like appropriate tools for the project, gloves, hat, sunscreen, bottled water, etc.
