Love That Lasts

A ministry of eternal value is built on love that actively reaches out to people, just as bus ministries once went into neighborhoods to bring children to church. This biblical love stands in stark contrast to the world's definition - it's not merely a feeling but an action described through 15 different verbs in 1 Corinthians 13. When Paul writes that 'love never fails,' he's emphasizing that while spiritual gifts like prophecy, tongues, and knowledge are temporary, love endures forever. Paul uses powerful metaphors to connect love with spiritual maturity, comparing immature believers to children who haven't grown in love. He also describes our current spiritual understanding as seeing 'in a mirror dimly' - even at our best, we only see partially through God's Word. The greatest measure of spiritual maturity isn't giftedness but love, which always includes both truth and grace. At its heart, biblical love requires sacrifice - it's not just convenient service but giving that costs something. The greatest ministries aren't those with impressive gifts or resources but those who love most like Jesus.
