Covid-19 Response

COVID-19 UPDATE

December 23, 2020

Dear Church Family,
Our governor has recently issued executive orders as it relates to the rising COVID-19 cases in Middle Tennessee. We thank God for our governor and certainly want to do our part as Christians to help in the well-being of our community. Please note that in his executive order churches are exempt from the limit of gatherings to no more than 10 people. We believe that our efforts have been effective as we have gathered over the last several months as a church.
We will continue to physically meet and provide online and live-streaming. We will also continue to follow health and safety measures as listed on our website at fbcmj.org. We strongly encourage everyone to wear a mask as we walk about the campus.
Here are a few specifics for how we plan to help in this 30-day request by our governor:
  1. We will have only one worship service over the next two Sundays at 11:00 A.M. We will resume two worship services on Sunday, January 10, 2021.
  2. We will not have small groups meeting on our campus over the next three weeks. We plan to resume small groups on campus on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Your small group leader can give you more information if they want to hold an online meeting on January 10, 2021.
  3. We will suspend all Wednesday activities until January 13, 2021.
While most of these plans were already in place before the governor’s executive order, these adjustments will only help us as we pull together during this time. We must recognize that there is a risk associated with all activities in which we choose to participate. If you are sick or have any symptoms of COVID-19, it is important that you stay home. The fact is that most of our community is still going to grocery stores, shopping, and gathering and participating in other social events. We can also both be faithful to our New Testament call to gather as believers and also be sensitive to these latest guidelines.

Let us pray for the very real consequences of the COVID-19 impact on our families and loved ones. Let us pray for a speedy vaccine distribution. Let us pray that the hearts of believers across our nation will be revived towards the things of God. The Church of the living God needs to shine brightly in the darkness of our world, not shrink back from it.
Thank you for always graciously adapting as we try to serve the Lord alongside you. This has been a challenging season for all of us, but our mission is worth our every effort to keep moving forward in the unity of the Spirit.
In Christian love,
Pastor Phillip
